It wasn’t just death.
It was LOVE expressed in the most unlikely form!- costing Him His last breath.
God turned man turned sacrificial lamb.
He fully surrendered with outstretched arms- no questions asked, no hesitation, no opposition.
His body suffered in agony, they brutally maltreated him.
But He pushed through, reaching Golgotha.
His mother’s heart was pierced with pain and so was His side with the spear
His disciples and friends were near, enduring the torment of loosing their Master
Yet…
Not once did He judge or condemn His murderers but on their behalf, offered up a prayer.
Dare I say He was indeed guilty of one thing- LOVE
He LOVED unconditionally despite my consistent inabilities to recognise the depth of His sacrifice and to love Him just as much.
For the Joy that was set before Him, Christ endured the cross,
That I might be saved, completely reconciled to God.
That I should carry the title- child of God.
‘It is finished‘ He said,
but this wasn’t an end, rather a proclamation of the beginning of a new life,
A life in Him- the light of mankind!
He did everything so that I can only rest in Him
He has victory over death and is RISEN! Alleluia! and a crown of life has been placed on my head.
In Christ, I have life and light, darkness has been overcome!
Could I ever repay? No! My human mind limits me from fully grasping the magnitude of this great act
But…
I will remember His love and love Him each day, with all my strength, mind, soul and body.
He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities. the punishment that brought us PEACE was on Him and by his wounds we are healed!
-Isaiah 53:5
And so, with the arrival of this Easter morn, I am reminded of a love so deep, a sacrifice so great and my resurrected Lord, Jesus Christ!
