Dear Jesus

Dear Jesus,

It’s me again.

I’m the one for whom you descended from your heavenly throne, willingly choosing to dwell in the midst of mortals.

The one you thought about during your long walk to Golgotha.

The one you saw through blood and sweat-soaked eyes and for whom you bore all pain and humiliation.

I was that child who heard about you for the first time. I questioned the stories I heard, trying to make sense of it all yet my heart felt restless and a deep hunger rose within me.

I was that child you found in the dark, in that lonely and deserted emptiness where I felt unseen walls caving in on me. At first, I didn’t know it was you when I saw that ray of light piercing my doom but something about it gave me hope and eventually brought tears to my eyes as I realized I could breathe again and that I would never remain the same.

I was that child who wanted to love you but didn’t know how to and failed repeatedly. The one who sat confused as I questioned what I had done to deserve so much kindness from you.

I was that one who felt like a wannabe, leaning over the fence and looking at you as you shepherd your flock. I desperately wanted to be on the same side of the fence as you but I couldn’t get rid of those thoughts, and the voice that whispered I wasn’t good enough. I was told countless times that I already belonged, that I was already yours but something within me prevented me from fully accepting this truth. But You were patient, You didn’t give up, You held onto me and continued to shower your love on me, a little sprinkle here and there and now, I’m fully drenched!.

Lord Jesus,

Though my physical eyes haven’t grasped your glory in bodily form, my spiritual eyes can testify you are everything I have come to know and more. You have changed my life in so many ways. You are the reason I live!

Regardless of the child I became at any point during my walk with you, I say thank you that you knew me before I came to be, and have called me by name, and you have given me the gift of the Holy Spirit to help me become THAT CHILD whom you have a place prepared for in Heaven.

You are my Lord! My messiah! My Dear Jesus!
